Northern Trust gears up for asset servicing expansion

Northern Trust has appointed Ian Hamilton as a sales manager to drive asset servicing in the pensions and sovereign entity sectors in the UK, Europe and Africa.

In his new role, Hamilton will focus on offering asset servicing and capital market solutions to institutional investors.

Based in London, he will report to Douglas Gee, head of sales for Northern Trust’s asset servicing business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Hamilton joins from State Street, where he was head of asset owners, and European head of consultant relations.

Penelope Biggs, head of Northern Trust’s institutional investor group for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “At Northern Trust we recognise asset owners increasingly require sophisticated asset servicing solutions to enhance their investment operations and oversight.”

She added: “In response to this trend, Ian Hamilton and his focused team will tailor solutions to help clients make more informed investment decisions, supported by greater transparency, governance and oversight of their investments.”

Wilson Leech, head of Northern Trust in EMEA, said: “We continue to see an unprecedented demand for our asset servicing, asset management and capital markets solutions. Ian Hamilton’s experience will be valuable as we continue to drive the delivery of our innovative solutions to our clients across the region.”
